Using Shop Air To Find Leak?

As a non professional, Do-It-Yourselfer, I have never tried that, mainly because I don't think it's a good idea.
You see a LOT of really bad ideas on YouTube, and this is one IMO.

I only work on my own cars, but I still went ahead and purchased a Nitrogen tank setup for pressurizing the system to test for leaks.

But let me caution you even on this.
I have used the Nitrogen to test systems and they passed the Nitrogen pressure test, only to leak freon badly once charged and running.

UV Dyes have helped me a lot.

These guys would use shop air containing oil and moisture

Oil and moisture are my thoughts on that. You can use the same soap bottle on refrigerant line with refrigerant in them. (from the outside) so you risk contaminates for no gain. Dry nitrogen works well also.

I see on U-Tube, guys using shop air, and a soap bottle, to find leaks in Auto AC?

Any thoughts on that?
