    2000 k3500 compressor replacement

The compressor keeps on leaking in the same place.
The joint between the front and back half of the body.
    Kind of a stupid design.
Compressor is aluminum and the mount is iron.
Is there any replacement with a one piece body????
I did torque it down as instructed in the factory manual.
The original leaked in the same place.
Any other special fix for this????

I just found this on the web.

    Anyone know about this compressor.
It looks better than the original one.

That's cheap anyway for a new replacement. Used to like Sandens just shim it up was direct fit.

Can't say for this one don't trust those star ratings - IMO corrupted,

Hate to get another of the same, and have it leak in the same place again.
This replacement looks to be better made.
It doesn't have the joint in the middle.

They work. Amazon if you fail with it get your $$ back.

Know oil charge is or becomes an educated guess measure what comes out of old stuff add 2 oz. Write that down under the hood,

This is a well known problem and the reason the compressor was moved to the lower right side of the engine on later models.
As the fan clutch wears the under hood temperature rises, warping the bracket. The 4 piece body of the GM HT6 compressor is stressed causing the leaks. Before they came out with the one piece Sanden replacement, I used to set the compressor on top to see which way it rocked. Then I ground down the highest of the 4 mounting points until it did not rock anymore. It had very little if any effect on belt alignment as it was just 1/8 inch os so. Sanden makes high quality compressors and I recommend using that over the OE.

NO! 1/8th off is a failure to clone exact part to just bolt on. OMG you'll burn that up in no time,

I grind a small amount off of the warped bracket so it is not warped anymore, the compressor case is not stressed when bolted down. I didn’t do it once, I did it more than 100 times and it worked every time. I never had to warranty any of them.

If so how does anyone argue with that? Good for you!
